Our Pastor, Lowrie J. Welton, came to Ashford Memorial Methodist Church April 1, 2006 upon his retirement from both the Air Force and United Methodist Church. He served 26 years of active duty and completed the last 12 years of his career as Command Chaplain for Air Force Reserve Command, Robins AFB, Georgia. Prior to returning to the Air Force, he served 17 years pastoring United Methodist Churches in California, Arizona and Oklahoma. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Oklahoma, a Master of Divinity degree and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, California. “Larry” and his wife Judy, have been partners in ministry for over 4 decades. They have 3 daughters, 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Heather Howard, an elementary educator at Westminster Christian Academy, is excited to head up our newly created youth ministry coordinator position. Heather will be directing our Sunday school programs, finding volunteers for Children’s Church, as well as coordinating activities for our AMMY program.
Tyler Stampe, Choir Director, is currently a doctoral candidate at UGA with his emphasis in composition. Tyler has written for solo voice, choir, various instruments, a film, and a children's opera. Tyler is a native from Iowa and completed his Bachelors in Music Education at Simpson College and then a Masters Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas in music composition. He is a member of the international award winning Hodgson Singers, the premiere choir at UGA. He loves to travel and has visited England, France, Denmark, Austria, and the Czech Republic.
